Repair our Roof Appeal
Regular parishioners and visitors to our Cathedral know that the roof is leaking in many places around the building and it is, to say the least, unsightly to see buckets spread around when we have had heavy rain. Not only does it spoil the appearance of the Cathedral, the puddles cause a serious Health and Safety risk and make it difficult to keep the building warm. The work to repair the roof is URGENT! It will also be expensive. It will cost £2.4 million to be precise. The work will commence in two phases, the first part on the lower roof costing £1.547 million and then the upper roofs will cost £875,000. We have been working with Diocesan and Parish Committees, Diocesan Trustees and the Property Services Department and have appointed the conservation architects Purcell to help us with the project. At the moment we are pursuing grant applications and are currently waiting to hear whether we have been successful in our bid to the First World War Centenary Cathedral Repairs Fund announced by the Chancellor last spring. However, even if our bid is successful we will have to contribute a considerable portion of the costs ourselves so we need your help. The work on the lower roof must then be completed within one year. So, as well as your prayers we also need your pounds. Our Mother Church is God’s House. Please help us to look after it well. Thank you.
There are a number of ways that you are able to help increase the funds of the Cathedral:
Sponsor a Lead Sheet
We hope that one of the biggest fund raisers for Clifton Cathedral is going to be the Lead Roof Sponsorship.
We will also record your sponsorship with any specific dedication that you require. They may just be an individual's name, a group, club, society or company or a plaque in memory of a loved one or the celebration of a new birth or anniversary, or the name of someone who lost their life in WW1.

Leaving a Legacy
What better legacy could you leave for future generations than a glimpse back into the past.
The future is far too important to be left to chance. We all want to ensure that our family and loved ones will be well looked after when we are no longer there to help; that's why making a will is one of the most important jobs that we must do.
A legacy to Clifton Cathedral, no matter how small, included in your will, is a way of helping to ensure that your children and your children's children will be able to enjoy a stunning architectural marvel for many generations to come. If you wish to leave an amount of money to the Clifton Cathedral in your will, this can be arranged. Please contact Mary Manners at…
Are you a UK Taxpayer? If yes, you can participate in GIFT AID.
What does this mean?
Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give, we get an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue, helping your donation go further.
This means that £1 can be turned into £1.25 and £100 can be turned into £125, just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid. Imagine what a difference that could make, and it doesn't cost you a thing.
When you visit Clifton Cathedral, please complete Gift Aid forms and hand them in at the office or simply complete one on line: Gift Aid (hyperlink to form)
We would be very interested in talking to any company that would be interested in being involved in sponsoring the Clifton Cathedral Repair our Roof Appeal, either locally or nationally, big or small. This could take the form of financial support, equipment, materials, advertising and promotions or voluntary labour.
Please contact Mary Manners… to discuss the matter further.
Any donation, whatever size, large or small, will be gratefully received. Please send your cheques, made payable to ‘Clifton Cathedral Repair our Roof Appeal.' at the following address:
Cathedral House, etc
If you would like to make a cash donation, in person, we have a number of collecting tins in the Cathedral, that can be used.
And last but by no means least we ask for your prayers that we can be successful in our appeal and save our wonderful building for the future generations who will use it.
