The Cathedral Fabric Committee advises the Cathedral Dean on on-going maintenance and refurbishment issues, prioritises work and considers quotations and estimates and works in collaboration with the Cathedral Finance Committee regarding funding for works.
The Fabric Committee is comprised of a very small team of people, led by Jenny Goss, a local architect, who are always keen to welcome any parishioners with professional skills in the construction industry who could contribute to the work of the committee.
Because any developments of the fabric of the building require funding, the Fabric Committee, the Cathedral Finance Committee and the Development Committee work very closely together. We have been so grateful that the Cathedral has adopted us as one of the Parish Projects and we hope you will soon start to see the fruits of that support.
Currently the Committee is in the process of working with the Diocesan Property Services and Finance Department in order to establish the protocols for dealing with the larger scale of projects that are in hand, i.e resurfacing and improving disabled access of upper car parks, toilets, electrics, heating and not forgetting to mention the roof. This process is taking some time but we are making progress.
If you have an interest and expertise in building and fabric and you would be interested in joining this team please contact Mary Manners at Cathedral House.
